Use our Earth’s Spheres slideshow to introduce the four subsystems to your student. Earth’s Spheres for Kids would not be complete without this slideshow. It is the meat and potatoes of the lesson. In this slideshow, each sphere will be defined and described. The images will help students to visualize what each sphere encompasses. Students are encouraged to fill out one of the graphic organizers below as they read the slideshow. Ultimately, the information in the slideshow is your guide for the activities below.
There are several Earth’s Spheres Graphic Organizers to choose from. There is sure to be one that resonates with you and your students. Be specific with your expectations. If you want your students to write complete sentences, then make that known. I find that when I am not specific with my expectations of an assignment, my students give me a gamete of completed assignments leaving me stumped as to how to assess them. Because, technically, I did not specify what I wanted so how can I criticize their completed work when there was no guide or rubric. Keep that in mind especially when instructing a larger group. When expectations are not clear, this will eventually lead to students turning in lackadaisical work. If you are teaching a larger class, I find it helpful to show students an example of what you are looking for.
In some cases, you may find the Earth’s Spheres Activity Book the best activity for your students. I find that one activity may not fit everyone’s needs. This activity book features a version with writing lines and a second option without lines. The second version is a great option for those students who struggle with writing, but like to draw or doodle notes. Differentiation is key in certain classroom settings. There are several educational videos you could implement into this lesson of study. Videos add another element to your lesson that can be highly beneficial for those students whose learning style is stimulated by visuals and narration. I like to add videos to a lesson at the beginning or ending of a study. They serve as great introductory tools while also being effective conclusive activities.
