Real World 2D Shapes Activity

Real World 2D Shapes Activity

This Real World 2D Shapes Activity is one of many shape PowerPoints and printables on our Shapes & Colors page. There are lots of activities to choose from including tracers, flashcards, slideshows, and some engaging shape videos that can be found on YouTube for free. However, this activity sheet in particular is one of my favorite shape printables. Since kids love to use their hands while they work, the Real World 2D Shapes Activity Sheet is a winner! Watch while your students cut, paste, and learn the 2D shapes!

How to Implement the Real World 2D Shapes Activity...

Using stick glue and scissors, this worksheet set becomes a hands-on activity for early learners. The shapes focused on are listed as follows: circle, square, rectangle, star, diamond, hexagon, pentagon, triangle, octagon, trapezoid, and oval. Students are asked to cut out the real-world examples of 2D shapes on the third sheet. The real-world examples included are a clock, kite, stop sign, soccer ball, picture frame, mirror, bee hive, pizza, and more! Once students cut the examples out they are asked to match the real-world shapes to the correct 2D shapes on the first two worksheets.

This activity is part of a much larger 2D shape unit that includes PowerPoints, videos, and other printables. If you are a teacher, you will want the 2D Shapes PowerPoints & Printables Pack.
