You will receive an editable 28-slide PowerPoint titled “Pangaea, Continental Drift, Plate Tectonics, and Boundaries.” The PDF of this file is also included as a science reader, along with guided notes, a Venn diagram, a vocabulary worksheet, a Pangaea Cut & Paste Puzzle, a Boundaries Flip book, and video note-taking sheets.
Editable PowerPoint & PDF
The 28-slide editable PowerPoint, “Pangaea, Continental Drift, Plate Tectonics, and Boundaries,” breaks down the basics of the theory of Plate Tectonics, covering terms like theory, Pangaea, continental drift theory, convection currents, and the three types of plate boundaries. Each plate boundary is broken down into how it moves and what it forms. There are animated clips that show how the plate boundaries move. The following printable activities follow the information taught in the PowerPoint.
Editable Guided Notes
The guided notes are 4 pages long and follow the PowerPoint presentation word for word. Students are to fill-in-the-blanks to complete the guided notes. There is a 4-page set of notes following the guided notes that allows you to print the notes in full in case you needed to give them to an absent student.
Editable Vocabulary Worksheet
The vocabulary worksheet is one page. It helps students focus on the main vocabulary in the section, or it can be used as a quiz. Students are instructed to use the word bank and the PowerPoint information to find the answers.
Pangaea Cut & Paste Puzzle
This hands-on activity helps students see how the plates fit together to form what was thought to exist, Pangaea, the supercontinent. Please look at the preview pictures to understand the activity.
Editable Plate Boundaries Flip Book
The Plate Tectonic Boundaries Flip book reiterates the information introduced in the slideshow and guided notes. However, it provides a new way to review boundaries. Students will fold the main sheet in half and then cut 3 slits to form the folding pieces. Next, students will draw arrows to show how each boundary moves. Students will cut out the pieces on the second sheet and then paste the correct descriptions on the inside of the flip book. Glue the larger cut-out piece to the back of the flip book.
Video Notes
These printable video notes leaves room for your student to take notes on 3 or 6 videos. The space provided allows your student to write a few sentences about each video. This is an effective way to encourage your students to pay attention and glean information during short educational videos. I do not recommend these video notes for longer videos. There are two versions depending on the age of your students.

This is a one-page Venn diagram that enables students to compare and contrast the 3 different plate boundaries.
