Whether you teach in a classroom setting or homeschool around your kitchen table, standardized testing seems to be a hurdle we all have to jump eventually. Our FREE Test Taking Tips & Strategies are meant to help you and your students prepare for testing day. I used these resources years ago when I was teaching in the classroom. However, the tips and strategies presented are ones that can be beneficial for all students preparing for the state mandated testing. Test Taking Tips & Strategies
In general, it is good practice to prepare your students prior to taking standardized testing. That could mean a whole slew of practices from quizzing, to cramming, to general studying. For me and my students, I find it beneficial to review with them testing procedures and expectations. Prior to taking the test, it is helpful to ease their nerves, calm their minds, and encourage them in their abilities. One way to do this is to explain to them what the testing will look like and what they should expect. The resources below will help students prepare for their big testing day as well as create an open dialogue for teachers, students, and parents.

Our Test Taking Strategies Slideshow features 19 slides focused on Test Taking Tips & Strategies. It was created for middle school students but can be used for upper elementary and high school students too. Take a look for yourself and you will see that it is appropriate for multiple age groups. This is an excellent resource to use with your students before the big testing day.
ABC's of Test Taking Student Hand-out
This FREE ABC’s of Test Taking Student Hand-out is ideal for middle school and high school students. Years ago, I found this version of ABC’s of Test Taking but cannot find the original author or even where it can be downloaded now. I tweaked the original version and replaced colored images with black and white ones. Then, I added a few tips myself. However, the bulk of this document was found and its author is anonymous.
Test Taking Poster
For those of you who are classroom teachers, it is beneficial to have a, “We are Testing,” poster. Print and laminate for years to come.
