Scripture Memory Verse Checklist

This FREE Printable Scripture Memory Verse Checklist may be the incentive or accountability you and your child need to take scripture memory to the next level. You can choose to use this with the set or not. However, we find it helpful to keep us motivated and focused on the task at hand.  Once completed, celebrate with some ice cream or a treat together!

Teach them to find their memory verse in the Bible...

One way to review the memory verses is to teach them where to find it in the Bible. This may sound elementary, but oftentimes we read verses out of Sunday school books or Bible activity sheets and fail to read them from the Bible. We must make the connection for our kids that these verses come from God and His word.

Scripture Memory Verse Posters

When my oldest was younger, I printed these out and laminated them to make posters. At the time, we would tape our memory verse poster on the wall until we had it memorized. After a few years passed, we then printed these out as cards so that we could review them. There are 24 posters or cards in total.

Scripture Memory Draw & Write Activity Sheets

Draw & Write Sheets are my favorite for early writers. When students are hesitant to write or are just beginning to put sentences together, these writing sheets are perfect. There is a writing and drawing prompt for each memory verse giving you 24 Draw & Write Activity Sheets. Use this time to discuss the meaning of the memory verse along with the basics of sentence structure… a capital letter and period. It can be a real treat to see and read what they write. Scripture Memory Verse Fill-in-the-Blanks

What I love about this printable scripture memory set is the ability to combine other skills in conjunction with learning God’s word. These Scripture Memory Fill-in-the-Blank activity sheets review high frequency words while helping students refine their fine motor skills. Besides writing the words in the blank, your student could also cut & paste the words into the memory verse.

Scripture Memory Verse Manuscript Sheets

Sometimes the best to way to memorize scripture is to write it. However, another benefit to embedding God’s word in your heart using this method is the ability to also practice handwriting skills. Some students naturally have neater handwriting than others, but with practice all students can improve their handwriting skills. Personally, when I went to print out the manuscript sheets for kids, I realized that I preferred using the printouts that use gray ink. The gray ink allowed for me to see their handwriting better than the black version. Pick what works for you.

Scripture Memory Verse Cursive Sheets

Your student may benefit more from the cursive handwriting sheets. While my younger children are using the manuscript ones, my older kids are working their way through this set of cursive sheets. It helps them to memorize the scripture memory verse while practice writing in cursive at the same time. Side note: After printing these for my kids, I noticed that printing these in gray ink allowed me to see their handwriting better. So, pick whichever suits you better.

Scripture Memory Verse Activity Sheets

The Scripture Memory Verse Activity Sheets can be used in several different ways. Our favorite thing to do with these activity sheets is to use them as puzzle scramblers. For your younger students, cut the verse into strips and allow them to put the verse in order. Another way to scramble the verse is to cut the individual words out and have  your student put the words in order from beginning to end. My kids usually glue the strips or words onto construction paper to create a poster. Have fun with it!

Looking for a Bible Curriculum?

Truthfully, we have never used a full-fledge Bible curriculum. For us, sitting together reading excerpts from the Bible, Bible story books, and researching Biblical topical studies has met our needs. We have used various resources for the kids to explore on their own the power and sovereignty of God. This usually happens through well-selected books and websites. You can read more about how we incorporate learning God’s word here in our Bible Truths section.
