FREE EDUCATIONAL ONLINE GAMES

FREE EDUCATIONAL ONLINE GAMES are like educational videos, both can be fun and rewarding for teacher and student! In my opinion, the biggest deterrent to finding a FREE educational online game is the amount and type of advertisements that appear while my child is playing. Many sites do not offer an online environment that I feel comfortable with. Either the graphics are too realistic and somewhat demented or the ads are compromised. Unfortunately, many ads found on such sites depict ideals and values that are not parallel to Christian households.

THE OREGON TRAIN ONLINE GAME

Does anyone else remember playing this game back in the 80’s? I remember loving this game. Oregon Trail was reintroduced to me in college by one of my professors who claimed it was a perfect example of how a game can truly be educational.

My oldest son now plays The Oregon Trail. Yes, the game is fun, but the strategy to survive the trail and gain the most points intrigues him the most. You learn quickly that a farmer has less money than a banker, but a farmer will earn more points for their increased level of hardship.  I would recommend The Oregon Trail to students 2nd grade or higher. Before I presented the game, we spent some time reading about the Oregon Trail and the many obstacles that settlers had to face. Click here or on the image to be redirected to this free homeschool resource.

SEBRAN FREE DOWNLOAD

We have used the Sebran free download countless times with all of my children. Sebran and Minisebran are a breeze to use. The Sebran program would attract early elementary and older preschool students. Sebran’s musical background along with its simple games are attractive to young learners. My kids always enjoyed the memory match and hangman. The benefit to this download is the ability to play without a constant internet connection. Click here or on the image to download Sebran.

MINISEBRAN FREE DOWNLOAD

The Minisebran program is educational and easy enough for my younger preschooler to navigate, which is a blessing! The Minisebran is a free suite of early learning games for kids 2-6 years old. It includes eight different exercises, including doodle drawing exercises and very simple games to help your child learn numbers, letters, and even the keyboard. Click here or on the image to download Minisebran.

STARFALL APP & ONLINE

free educational online games

Even though we take advantage of the gaming sites above, we do pay an annual $35 fee for StarFall. Personally, I love StarFall. Over the years, all of the kids in my family have used and loved StarFall at one point or another. I still have 4 of my kids regularly use it for songs, reading, math games, and other activities. It currently offers subjects ranging up to 3rd grade. Hopefully, they will continue to expand their product. For the money, it is worth it. There are no ads and I love how user friendly it is. My 3 year old can navigate StarFall. It is definitely a site worth checking into. I have never used the StarFall app, but it appears to offer the same educational product. Worth looking into for your younger kids.
