ABC Cut & Paste Craft Sheets

Letters and Sounds Printables & Activities

Our ABC Craft Sheets are simple and effective! The majority of ABC Craft Sheets out there are super cute but require more prep than I would like. I have six kids and time is gold. These ABC Craft sheets are more forgiving than others. Students can cut some of the images out or all of them. My now 4-year old used to do these when she was 2. She pasted the images upside down and sometimes cut the images in half. But no one cared, because she did it all by herself! And that was what mattered.

What are ABC Cut & Paste Craft Sheets

The ABC Cut & Paste Craft Sheets were created to coincide with the ABC Book and slideshow that can be accessed here. Each sheet features a capital letter. There are corresponding images at the end of the PDF for your student to cut out and paste onto their letter sheet. For younger students, this encourages fine motor skills, letter recognition, reinforcement of beginning letter sounds, and more!

In this set, you will find all 26 capital letters and then 13 sheets of letter-appropriate images. For best results, focus on one letter at a time. After printing, give your student a letter sheet with the corresponding pictures. For example, the alligator images represent the letter “A.” First, have your student trace or color the letter making sure to review the sound that the letter “a” says. Next, instruct your student to cut out the alligators and paste them to the “A” sheet.

For us, the ABC Cut & Paste Craft Sheets are most effectively used when paired with the ABC Book Slideshow. As you can see from the picture, we review the book as we complete our craft sheets. Besides reviewing letter sounds and practicing fine motor skills, you can also ask your student to count the number of images, write the lowercase letter around it, draw other things that start with the letter. One year, I had my older preschooler tell me a sentence about the image. For example, your student may say, “The alligator bit me!”

What else can you do with ABC Craft Sheets?

We have also used the letters to make letter people. It is easy to add google eyes and draw on arms and legs. You can also glue items to the letters that are letter-appropriate. For example, cotton balls to the “C” or buttons to the “B.” Stickers and stamps can really come in handy too! Here are some ideas below!

Food for Thought...

Kids have tons of energy! Because of this, most kids have a difficult time sitting for long periods. That is why it is helpful to have a BIG collection of activities to teach your student their letters & sounds. When teaching young kids or students who struggle with hyperactivity, the best teaching methods involve a lot of hands-on activities. Another extremely helpful tip is to change their activity often. For preschoolers, intertwine learning with play. Consider purchasing letter learning tools when the price is right. However, don’t underestimate the power of creativity. There are tons of ideas, printables, booklets, songs, and videos to use when teaching this skill. The Homeschool Daily offers LOTS of Letters & Sounds printables and activities to consider here!
