The Alphabet 4-Square Graphic Organizers is a set of 26 organizers. It is an EXCELLENT tool for teaching letters and sounds. Each sheet features a letter of the alphabet which is showcased in the center of the page. This is an easy but effective way to teach your child capital and lowercase letters, the sounds of each letter, writing skills, and is valuable for building vocabulary. We like to do these while using our ABC slideshow that features words starting with each letter and visually shows the kids pictures and the capital and lowercase version of each letter. Be sure to check out our other Letters and Sounds printables & activities. If you enjoy these effective sheets, try the Beginning Sounds BINGO game cards.
How to use the Alphabet 4-Square Graphic Organizers
For the top left-hand square, my child writes the capital and lowercase letter. In the other three squares, we work together to come up with three things or words that start with the featured letter. I ask them, “What can you think of that begins with the J sound?” Then, I make the “J” sound. My child came up with the words: jellybean, jam, and John. Depending on your child’s ability and comfort, write the words for them or let them do it.
Sometimes the simplest methods are also the most effective. I believe this to be the case with the Alphabet 4-Square Graphic Organizers. I recommend printing the whole set out at once and storing in a folder. That way, you can consistently pull from it until completion. When you keep the completed A-Z graphic organizers in a binder, a personalized alphabet book is created. It is fun to look back from the time your child started to the end. You will find it encouraging to see how much they have improved in writing and drawing from A to Z!
