Short Vowel Activities & Printables
We have found some awesome short vowel activities over the years, but a lot of them require printing and laminating, which can get to be a pain after a while. Am I the only one that thinks this way? Don’t get me wrong, I have done my fair share of laminating, but if I can practice or review a concept with my student using a teaching method other than printing, I’m all in! Hence, slideshows, in my opinion, like other presentations, are a highly underrated teaching tool for homeschoolers. In our Short Vowel Activities & Printables, we offer two slideshows to use in your classroom or with your kiddo. Take a look and see if our Short Vowel Activities & Printables will work in your homeschool!

Short Vowel Printables
The Sound Vowel Printables is a set of 4 worksheets featuring short vowel words. 2 of the worksheets allow for the student to fill in the vowel missing in the word. The other 2 sheets feature the same picture words, but require the student to sound out the whole word filling in the letters. These sheets can be laminated for those wanting to use them in stations or with multiple students over time.

Phonetic Words Cut & Paste Activity Sheet
These activity sheets are fun for preschoolers and kindergarten students. The pictures are the perfect size for little hands to cut out. Teachers and students together will work to phonetically sound out the words and then find the corresponding matching picture. Next, the student will glue the pictures above the correct word. Go over the words after to reinforce new sounds.
Compound Words Cut & Paste Activity Sheet
Compounds words can be made when two smaller words are put together to form a larger word. Example: foot + ball = football. This worksheet provides the student with pictures to guide them into creating compound words. The student will cut out the words on the 2nd page to paste in the blanks on the first page. They can glue the words where they belong to make compound words. Happy learning!
