Layers of the Earth Worksheets
There are four activity sheets within the FREE Layers of the Earth Worksheets. Along with other resources, we used these worksheets to teach our Layers of the Earth Unit. Two of the four sheets were specially designed to use together. You can use them to create a mini-project where students label a diagram and then describe the parts of the interior of the Earth. What makes this set of worksheets different than from others is that ours focuses on the five layers of the Earth including the crust, upper mantle, lower mantle, outer core, and inner core.
Since you are studying Earth, you might enjoy our other units on Earth such as Distribution of Earth’s Water or Rotation and Revolution.

How to use the worksheets...
Two of the worksheets we use as a pair to create a mini-project that students work on at home. There is a similar worksheet available that cuts way back on the amount of writing required and is only one sheet instead of two. Some of you may prefer that one better, which is in the set of worksheets.
These were created for a middle school science class. You could choose to have your students research online or through the library checking out the appropriate books. I encourage mine to write neatly and to construct complete thoughts and sentences. Even though we are teaching science, it is important to lead them to write complete sentences. I do not deduct points for grammar or spelling errors necessarily, but I do correct them and make appropriate comments.
