In our States of Matter Pack, you will receive a zip file with 2 editable PowerPoint presentations and 8 PDF files. This pack includes these files: Matter and Atoms PowerPoint, Matter and Atoms PDF, Matter Pop Quiz PDF, States of Matter editable PowerPoint, States of Matter PDF, States of Matter Cut & Paste Table, States of Matter Worksheet, States of Matter Table, and the States of Matter Pamphlet. The last file included is a Teacher’s Guide. This is where I suggest other activities and or give links to labs that I think would accompany the unit well.

Matter and Atoms Editable PowerPoint & PDF

The Matter and Atoms editable PowerPoint is a great introduction to matter. It defines matter including a review of volume and mass. Examples of matter and the smallest unit of matter is identified. Atoms are mentioned in this slideshow, but deep study of atoms including molecules, elements, and mixtures are not hit upon. There is a PDF version included in the zip file.

Matter Pop Quiz PDF

To coincide the Matter and Atom PowerPoint, there is a short Pop Quiz that would make a great ticket out the door or conclusion to a class.

States of Matter Editable PowerPoint & PDF

The States of Matter editable PowerPoint lays out the four states of matter including solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. In the 15 slides, each state of matter is defined by energy levels, particle pattern and movement, as well as examples being identified. The PDF is also included.

States of Matter Cut & Paste Table

This cut & paste activity sheet is one of my students’ favorite. Students are asked to take the learned information and sort descriptors with what state of matter it describes. The three main states of matter are featured.

States of Matter Worksheet

The States of Matter Worksheet requires students to identify energy level, particle movement and pattern, as well as volume and shape. This would make a great quiz or comprehension check.

States of Matter Table

This table is perfect for students to use when taking notes on the PowerPoint presentation. It allows students to identify, describe, and list examples of the three main types of matter.

States of Matter Pamphlet

The pamphlet is helpful as a review or works well for students who struggle taking notes. Using a sheet of construction paper, students can create a states of matter pamphlet filled with pertinent information about the states of matter. Students will cut and paste the pieces into their pamphlet creating a booklet full of information.
