How do I print the Christmas Emergent Readers?
To create a handheld-size reader, print the reader 2 sheets to a page. This will give you a reader that is the size of half a page. After printing, cut it in half, sort it, and staple it into a coloring reading book. The graphics are strictly in black-and-white outlines. Which allows you to print guilt-free knowing that you aren’t eating up your computer ink. It also encourages your child to color and personalize it. I love using these at church since students can take them home. For those of you who have daughters, I appreciate that mine can decorate and keep their own in designated personal spaces.
What is Christmas about? Reader
Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. Somewhere along the way, we have forgotten what Christmas really is. The booklet teaches the reader that Christmas is about Jesus. This is the perfect opportunity to talk to your child about the birth of Jesus. The “What is Christmas About?” emergent reader is perfect for budding readers. Repetitive sentence structure and the use of high-frequency words make this reader appropriate for younger elementary students.
This Christmas emergent reader is 11 pages long. It focuses on where Jesus is in reference to the animals or people in the picture with them. This booklet is helpful in teaching positional words. Some of the high-frequency words featured are is, in, look, from, and where.
Colorful Christmas Tree Reader
This Christmas Emergent Reader reviews colors and numbers, but not necessarily in particular order. For example, the color silver is presented and the number words are not in order. Some of the number words are one, seven, and even fourteen. This reader provides a different twist than the norm. In terms of difficulty, this reader is a step up from our beginner emergent readers.
