How to use The Days of Creation Coloring Pages...
One reason why I love these Days of Creation Coloring pages is for their practicality. These may appear to be merely coloring pages… BUT wait, they help students recognize numbers, practice letter sounds, and build vocabulary. While looking at the images within the numbers, teachers can lead students to a higher level of learning.
For example, take a look at Day 1 of Creation coloring page. After reading the sentence at the bottom, ask your student what shapes they see in the number 1. Point out the circle making sure to relay that a circle has no vertexes or points. The circle represents the earth that was without land or trees yet. Next, ask, “How many triangles do you see?” Three triangles symbolizes the trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These shapes show how the light cut through the darkness.
For day 2, here are some questions you might consider asking your child to extend the learning: What number do you see? How many clouds can you count? Can you draw another cloud? What sound do you hear at the beginning of the word, “wave?” Can you draw a number 2?
With Day 3, think about practicing beginning blend sounds. For example, ask your child to find all the items that start with the blend, tr, fl, or gr. (tree, flowers, grass) What about comparing the number of flowers to the number of trees? Which has more or less? The ideas are endless. To get the most from this activity, follow the same questioning technique with each sheet.
