Free Nature Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Our FREE Nature Scavenger Hunt is perfect for families and homeschool groups. The nature items on the activity sheet are common enough for most wooded areas or parks to have. We always encourage our kids to gather as many of the items as possible, but to collect any other interesting items they may encounter. You will be amazed at what your students gather, find, and discover!
*We do offer a MEGA 50 Nature Scavenger Hunt for those groups that need a challenge. Be sure to check out all of our Science resources here.
As a Christian Book and Amazon affiliate, we may earn commissions from qualifying purchases. Thank you for your support. As always, we only recommend items that we truly feel will benefit your homeschooling experience. We appreciate it.
How to use this FREE Nature Scavenger Hunt
When opening the PDF file you will find that this FREE Nature Scavenger Hunt is offered in three different sizes. This allows you to use it in a few different ways. The first time we used this hunt was to glue it onto the side of white lunch bags. Students used the bags to collect their nature items and it cut down on the amount of ink I had to use for printing.
However, one con to using the paper bag is that sometimes it can break. For example, my kids used them today, and out of five kids using them, one of their bags ripped on the side. Yes, it was the active energetic boy who ripped his bag with a jagged stick, but it still ripped. So, another option to consider is to print out a larger version of the hunt and put it inside a plastic gallon storage bag. I like this version for many reasons. One, students can see the items they collected in their bag since it is transparent. The con to this method is that if you are working with a larger group, you will likely spend more money on bags and ink.
Another option is to give your students a printed nature scavenger hunt and a plastic grocery bag. Some of my friends would easily tell me to keep it simple! Use it however you like, but get outside this fall and enjoy the great outdoors!
