Beginning Sounds ABC BINGO Game
Years ago, my husband’s cousin gave us a game called ABC BINGO. It included 4 game cards, a set of printed letter cards, and some circles for game pieces. It quickly became one of our favorite games to play as a group. Even as the kids grew older, we still enjoyed playing this game since everyone could play. I’m sure it helped that when the kids won a game there were marshmallows or gummy bears involved… yum! As our family grew, there weren’t enough game cards for all of us to play anymore. After some haggling from a couple of my kids, I made this Beginning Sounds ABC BINGO Game! It includes 8 BINGO Cards and a Teacher Calling Sheet. Check out our Alphabet BINGO Game too! Preparing your Beginning Sounds ABC BINGO Game
It doesn’t take much to prepare your BINGO Game for game playing. First, print your game cards. You can print them as a whole sheet or print them 2 pages per sheet. To create durable BINGO cards that can be used over and over again, I recommend printing on card stock or regular paper, but then afterwards, laminating. If you do this, you can keep them readily available for play anytime. For those of you not wanting to laminate, then don’t. You can Print and Play. Before you can play the Beginning Sounds ABC BINGO game, get some playing chips or other manipulative to use on your BINGO card. We have used pennies or beans before, but the best option for a large group is to cut out square pieces of construction paper. Now, you are ready to play ABC BINGO!
How to Play ABC Bingo
Playing ABC Bingo is educational and easy to play with small or large groups! Each player needs a BINGO card and playing chips. As the letter picker, you will say the letter name out loud along with its sound. This provides you with a great opportunity to help your student find pictures on their BINGO card that starts with the beginning sound. For example, let’s say that the letter B is called. A player with a picture of a boot on their card will put a chip on it. When a player has 4 squares in a line or 4 squares diagonally filled with chips, they can call out, “BINGO!” They just won the game!
