Printable Mayflower Voyage Map
This Printable Mayflower Voyage Map is the perfect companion to your study on the Mayflower and the Pilgrims. It helps kids understand how far away England was and how far the pilgrims sailed. It can be hard to imagine how any King could presume leadership and authority when an entire ocean lies between him and his subjects. Printable Mayflower Voyage Map
The Printable Mayflower Voyage Map is the perfect geography activity for students 3rd grade through Middle School. In this geography activity, your student will use an atlas or the short video shown to label key continents and locations featured on the map. Not only will your student label, but he will also draw the Mayflower and identify its route. To extend the learning, ask your students questions about the directions they traveled. In what direction was the Mayflower sailing? Where is Africa compared to Europe?
I kept it relatively easy for my younger kids as I told them that they could use a ruler to connect Plymouth, England to the Plymouth colony. However, this does cause the sailing trip to be a perfect line, which isn’t exactly realistic! So, use this short video simulation to help a better picture of the voyage trip!
Educational Fun Addition to this Activity
Some of you may be wondering why I have a Charlie Brown movie as a reference for our study on Pilgrims and the Mayflower. To be honest, if you had seen this film, you would not be questioning my choice. This is truly an educational film. The Mayflower Voyage is one of the films in the DVD, This is America, Charlie Brown.
