Organizers - Tips - Tricks

The topics covered in the first category of our All Things Homeschool post are probably the most important for those of you just starting to homeschool.  Whether you are new to homeschooling or thinking about pursuing it, be sure to check out our special post on Where to Start When Homeschooling. This is one of our most helpful articles, featuring several informational links that are sure to point you in the right direction.

Recommendations

Many homeschool moms will recommend their top curriculums and give detailed reasons as to why they love or hate them. Truthfully, I don’t venture out into new curriculum much and am a creature of habit when it comes to our curriculum. This isn’t because I think Abeka is the best. I use Abeka because it has been around for a LONG time, and I trust it. I use it because it offers solid teachings and gives my kids an advanced curriculum. Do I use it in its entirety? No. I pick and choose the things that work for us and then move on and supplement with books, videos, and games to make up the difference. The recommendations below make up the second section of our All Things Homeschool.

Extracurricular Ideas

We love to add extracurricular activities into our homeschool that don’t necessarily make it into a featured post. For example, last year one of my kids sewed a felt boy with button eyes and black felt pants and white shirt. Did I create a post about it? Sorry, haven’t gotten there yet. However, the few extracurricular posts that I have written about are some of our favorite! Hopefully you will be inspired to add something out of the box to your homeschool this year!

Curriculum Ideas

The last section of our All Things Homeschool post focuses on curriculum guides. However, I am not one to offer a specific curriculum path for a grade level or age. For one, I haven’t used the same path for any of my kids. We have used a number of resources for all of them, but not necessarily at the same time or even in the same year. With that being said, you will find that my curriculum plans for the below grades are lengthy and have overlapping resources. The idea is to give you some inspiration into what you might want to offer your child this year in your homeschool. Best to you and may God bless your efforts!

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
