Changing States of Matter Activities
Our Changing States of Matter Activities offer enough variation and options for you as a teacher to make teaching the concept of states of matter changing easy. Before diving into states of matter changing, you may want to check out our States of Matter Printables which would be an effective introduction to the resources below. These resources were created with middle school students in mind. There is a 25 slide educational reader, a changing states of matter graphic organizer, and a changing states of matter table. Students will find the activities useful as notes and a fun way to organize learned information. Read on to see how we use the Changing States of Matter Activities below to create a layered lesson!

Changing States of Matter Slideshow
The Changing States of Matter slideshow will walk you and your student through the different processes that states of matter undergo when they change. Thermal energy is discussed and how that affects the movement of molecules within a state of matter. The slideshow is 25 slides in length and can be downloaded for long distance learning or to be read as a book. There are two States of Matter Printables that coincide with this slideshow, which you can download below.

Changing States of Matter Graphic Organizer
The Changing States of Matter Graphic Organizer is the perfect tool to use when talking about how states of matter change. Students will identify the process by which each state undergoes to turn into a different state. Students will also identify what processes are exothermic and endothermic. This organizer is an effective follow-up activity to the slideshow. There is an answer key included in the PDF.
Changing States of Matter Table
The Changing States of Matter Table is an effective comprehension tool. Students are asked to fill in the blanks in the table. They will determine if a change is exothermic or endothermic. Students will identify the process by which the matter is changing states. The great thing about this table is that it makes a wonderful notebook sheet.
Changing States of Matter Lab
The Changing States of Matter Lab is an awesome way for students to see firsthand how increasing thermal energy changing matter. However, it does require some lab equipment if you plan to bring it to a classroom setting. If you are setting this lab experience up at home, than it should be relatively easy. Take a look for yourself and download your own Changing States of Matter Lab Sheet!
