Earthworm Unit Study
The Earthworm Unit Study is ideal for elementary students in the younger grades up to 3rd grade. You will receive a zip file with one editable PowerPoint and 10 PDF’s totaling 60+ pages. The files included are described below. There are ample activities to do with a class for at least a week’s worth of science lessons. Make sure to use the book and video recommendations too!
Earthworm PowerPoint
This editable 14-slide PowerPoint presentation is an excellent introduction to your earthworm science unit. It describes worms including their body parts, habitat, and purpose. The photos are visually appealing.
Earthworm Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer can be used while reading the PowerPoint information. It requires the student to identify key elements about earthworms. This graphic organizer can be used with multiple ages or in a family unit.
Earthworm Writing Sheet
This is a basic handwriting sheet to encourage young learners to practice their manuscript writing.
Earthworm Draw & Write Sheets
There are two options to choose from. These Draw & Write sheets encourage students to write what they have learned or write a creative writing piece. I like to use these for my elementary students and the writing sheet above for my preschoolers.
Parts of a Worm Worksheets
There is a poster showing the labeled parts of the worm. The second sheet offers students a word bank and fill-in-the-blank labels.
Worm Lab Sheets
Your students will love the Worm Lab! You will need to get some gummy worms and live earthworms. First, let your students examine both types of worms. Talk about what they have in common. Discuss their differences. Personally, I like for my students to work on the lab sheet first within a cooperative setting. After the group has completed their lab sheets, this is a great time to encourage independent work on the Venn Diagram.
Worm Habitat in a Jar Lab Sheets
Love this hands-on investigation! Use the 4 worksheets to help you and your students set up a Worm Habitat in a Jar. The lab sheets allow your students to record their observations, predictions, and findings.
3 Printable Worm Readers
There are 3 worm readers to choose from. The Fun Facts about Worms is a great reader for older students. It highlights 10 fun facts about worms. The Where is the Worm reader focuses on position words and shapes. With repeating sentence structure, the reader is great for budding readers. The I like Colorful Worms features colors and numbers. To print a handheld booklet, adjust your printer settings to print 2 pages to a sheet.
